Irma Lacayo, LMHC, is a compassionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor at My Psychiatrist in Florida. With over 26 years of experience in the mental health field, Irma is dedicated to helping children, adolescents, young adults, and older adults overcome a variety of mental health challenges.
She specializes in treating individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, anger, stress, grief, trauma, self-esteem issues, relationship and family issues, social and communication skills, OCD, and ADHD. Irma utilizes a wide range of therapeutic techniques to empower her clients and promote healing and personal growth.
Journey and Approach to Care
Irma earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Miami and her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Barry University. Throughout her career, she has successfully helped clients from diverse backgrounds, providing compassionate and personalized care.
Through empathy, Irma strives to understand each client’s specific context and unique perspective. She views each counseling relationship as a collaborative endeavor, working closely with her clients to achieve their mental health goals. Her personal, educational, and professional experiences have provided her with a strong foundation of patience and compassion to effectively help her clients.
Irma employs a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and coping/calming techniques. She believes in encouraging a sense of empowerment, self-efficacy, and self-value in her clients.
